Post by Carla Dae on Mar 21, 2007 16:47:38 GMT -5
Name: Carla Dae
Age: Carla is 17, although you would never guess this is her true age, for she does not look it. She looks older than average ladies of 17.
Race: Human Rider
Gender: Female
Alliegance: Carla is allied the the Empire and Meru.
Birthplace: Uru’baen
Hometown: Uru’baen
Du Edoc'sil?: No
Hair//Eye//Skin color: Carla’s hair is pure blonde and straight, falling around her mid-back, however when going to battle or riding, she prefers to have it tied in a tight braid so it isn‘t in her way, though she leaves the hair by her head out of the bread for she feels it looks better that way. Her eyes are a light blue which appear, at times, like ice, and at others, like warmth; it all depends on her mood. Her skin color is a very light shade of tan and is flawless. Carla’s skin, while being slightly tanned, is also pale like all women of high class.
Height: 5 feet, 9 inches.
Weight: 124 lbs.
Description: Carla is very beautiful. She is tall, slender, and a certain radiance emits from her presence. Her hair is always clean and combed, for it would be a disgrace for her hair to look grungy. Her lips are plump and light red, and her chin is round. Her flawless skin adds to her radiance of beauty, and along with her high cheek bones, it seems as though she is an elf.
Her attitude changes often. At one moment she can be cold and unforgiving, which is how she acts during wars and battles. But on other moments, she can be very caring and sweet, acting like a normal lady of her age would. She knows that she must bring honor to her family, and always tries to do her best to do so. Carla gives respect to those higher than her, but expects it from those lower than her.
Weapon of Choice: Carla’s preferred weapon is her extremely powerful magic, but when dealing with physical weapons, she only carries a dagger for emergencies. The blade of it is about 7 inches long, making it rather large. The hilt is all black, and the blade is silver. It is of excellent make, though not the best. It is unmarked from the usual wear and tear as Carla has yet to use it.
Magial Experience: Excellent. This is Carla’s most remarkable attribute. With extensive training since she was around 7, she has become a master in the art. She knows the Ancient Language fluently, able to speak it just as well as the common tongue. Having abandoned training in almost everything else to practice with this art has given her an extreme advantage with it. She can protect her mind with barriers that only those who have been training with magic for centuries could break through, and could prove to break through almost everyone’s mental walls. Her magic, while coming from a 17 year old lady, is a force to be reckoned with.
Languages: Carla just speaks common and the Ancient Language.
Occupation: Carla will, once she turns 30, take over the families businesses. The first and most successful is the Dae Trading Company, which is an Alagaesian wide trading company that is known to anyone who trades, barters, or purchases items. This is the most successful and first Dae establishment, but not the only. The Dae’s also own a large, couple thousand acre vineyard just outside of Gil’ead. It creates arguably the finest wine in all of Alagaesia. The Dae name is very respected and known by almost everyone in trade and commerce.
Literacy: Carla can read and write both common and the Ancient Language very well in both print and cursive.
Past History:
*The Dae family History*
The Dae family has been around for a long time, no one is exactly sure when it really started, though researchers and scholars have tried to do so. Ralph Dae I started the 'Dae Trading Co.' about 600 years from current date in Teirm. The mansion that was built by him still stands which the Dae family visits occasinoaly to check up on the trading headquarters. The Dae Trading Co. was an immediate success, which launched the Dae's into wealth and high class living. Around 60 years after the trading company was opened, Ralph Dae II realized that their biggest traded item was fine wine, so he started a multi-thousand acre vineyard, which took almost all of the saved Dae gold to start, but once it did, they traded the fine wine, which rivaled the success of the trading company. More trading centers opened up around Alagaesia, in Ceunon, Kuasta, Uru'baen, and Gil'ead, but the largest and most successful is still Teirm's. It is traditional that all the men in the family be named Ralph, which has led to Carla's father being Ralph XII, the twelfth. The mansion which now stands in Uru’baen was built by Ralph X, the tenth, about 85 years ago. It is one of the largest homes in the capital city of the Empire, and was built after Ralph X declared his alligence to Galbatorix. The Dae’s are very high in society and are recognized as such. The Dae Estate, so formally called by other’s, sits on 13 acres of land and is the largest and most architecturally beautiful building in Uru’baen, next to the Castle itself.
*Carla’s History*
Carla was born in Teirm, and was welcomed by the Dae family with open arms. Sure, they would have rather had a male, but she was going to become their little girl. She was beautiful as a baby, and she quickly learned to talk and walk. She was the pride and joy of her mother and father. She was classy, smart and pretty.
But when she was about 7 or 8, her father started to teach her what he knew of magic and of the history of Alagaesia; untainted by what Galbatorix wished people to know. Every Dae knew some sort of magic, it ran in their blood, and this was the age to teach the newest generation what they genetically inherited. But Carla knew how to write, read, and speak the Ancient Language in just three months, and though her young age, she was already moving pebbles and small objects. Her father continued this training, not bothering to teach her the art of swordsplay. She, on top of magic, was taught how to act like a lady in public situations. She was given a necklace with a large diamond. It shine’s in the sunlight, creating a rainbow effect, but it’s most special characteristic is it’s ability to store magical energy. It was handed down through the Dae family to the women of the family, the men had a sword with a magical stone placed in it’s hilt, which Carla’s father had. She vowed that she would store energy into it every night, so one day when the need arose, it would be there for her. She always wears it; whether she goes to war or a ball.
By the time she was 10, she needed a new master. She was better then her father. Many people were willing to teach her, who wouldn't? But they had to have the best of the best, which they found in Teirm. He was a man of about 50, and he was very intelligent. To Carla, he looked like a foolish beggar, so their first training lesson, she tried to overcome his power, only to have a surge of magic hit her and knock her out. when she awoke, she had immediate respect for the man, and obliged to his teachings. He taught her everything he knew, which took him 4 years. She was considered, by human standards, masterly in the art of magic, and was a magician prodigy.
So, at about 15, the Dae’s were unable to find a master who could teach her any more; all she had to do now was to hone her skills in magic. She did so every night and after word stored excess energy in her necklace.
One day, close to her 16th birthday, Galbatorix left Uru’baen and never returned, and soon after, Meru, his apparent daughter, took the throne. This was a great shock to everyone, and the fact that she was a Rider was even more surprising. Carla’s parents met with her soon afterwards, but they refused to swear their alligence to her for now.
Meru, soon after, called all those under 25 to her Castle that were fit to fight. Carla was one of the only ladies invited, but went none the less. She talked to them about their allegiances to her, and before she told them why they were called there, they had to swear their alligence to her in the ancient language. After, she told them that she was going to test them to see if they would become the next Dragon Rider. This made Carla, and almost everyone else there, excited. Her eye’s glinted with desire and determination. She had to become the next Rider, it was destiny. She would be the first Dae in history to be a Rider.
She looked at Carla. She knew Carla, as her parents had met her a couple times.
“Ladies first. Carla will spend the day with the egg, to see if there is any response, and I want the rest of you to return tomorrow at this time,” She said, motioning for Carla to follow him. She led her out a door behind the group of about 15 and after that, he led her into a room with three guards in front of it. There, one a pedestal, was the egg. It was light blue and iridescent with ivory veins running across it.
“Oh my…” she said under her breath. She looked at her, and she nodded. She walked forward. She lightly touched the egg. Nothing happened. Carla’s amazement left her and determination soon returned. She put her whole hand on it. Figuring that maybe it was ignorant, she tapped into her magic so it could hopefully tell that she wasn’t just some girl who wanted a dragon for a pet.
“Stay in this room, if you need anything, ask the guards. If it hatches, tell the guards, they will tell me,” Meru told her. Carla nodded. She took the egg off it’s pedestal and cradled it. After a couple hours, it vibrated. Carla smiled. Could it be…? After an hour it started to shake more violently. She told the guards, and within 10 minutes, a piece of egg had popped off. A guard then left to go fetch Meru, who returned in about 5 minutes. It took a few hours for the hatching process to be completed, but when it did, Carla held a light blue dragon with white spikes, teeth, and claws.
Meru started to train Carla in magic, which Carla appreciated, and with adamant refusal, she wasn’t forced to learn to wield a sword. She named her dragon Arris, and they have become very close.
Carla is now 17, and she has become quite the young lady due to the training given to her in her early ages. She knows how to handle herself, and is swift and fluid in everything she does. Arris is about 15 month’s old and can breath fire and hold Carla in a long flight. They have a very close bond and can sense each other’s feelings. Arris has brought honor beyond what she could have achieved normally, and her name alone, Carla Dae, is known by most in Uru’baen and is respected by all.
Introduction: Carla opened her eyes as her hand maid, Haileen, opened the curtains on the picture window in her room, which was larger then most walls in average houses were.
“Well good morning, Miss Carla, I didn’t mean to wake you,” Haileen said.
“It’s fine, and good morning to you,” She responded, sitting up in bed.
‘It’s about time you woke up, I have been awake for hours!’ Arris told her.
‘Yes, but you’re a dragon…’
‘So?’
‘Nevermind. I am going to get ready, then come get me, we can go for a ride.’
‘Ok.’
Haileen left Carla’s room, and Carla dressed, then tied her hair in the braid she wore when flying. She left her home to see Arris outside. Carla smiled, then walked over to her. She swung her leg around and hopped on her. Arris took off, sending gusts of wind through Carla’s hair. She laughed. There was nothing like a nice ride in the morning.
Dragon Name: Arris
Dragon Gender: Female
Dragon Color: Light blue accented with ivory white in her teeth, claws and spikes.
Dragon Age: 15 months
Dragon Desciption: Arris is large for a dragon her age, but slender and built for speed and agility. She has white teeth, claws, and spikes, and her light blue scales glisten in the sunlight. She is very realistic and often keeps Carla in check when she gets angry or upset. She likes to have fun, but knows when it is time for such and when it is time to be serious.
