Name: Lucian Noreen Franches (maiden name: Dulane)
Race: Human Rider
Alliance: Varden
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Languages: Human
Weight//Height: 121 pounds//5' 11"
Hometown: Uru'baen >>> Aberon
Magic: Not at all, never will be too strong in it
Weapons//Abilities: A really silver silver sword, given to her husband after his beginner's training was complete (the training you get before Ellesmera so you know the very minimal basics) in Aberon. It is thin and lightweight, but sturdy. She is good with it but there is always room for improvement. // Ground tactics like martial arts she is fairly skilled in for self defence, but that is it.
Description:
-looks- Straight red-brown hair, light blue eyes, thin eyebrows, long eyelashes. She wears an expensive green dress all the upper-class women wear. She carries herself with poise and grace, as if raised by nobility.
-personality- She has always been quite serious and never really creative. She only notices, or cares to notice, facts. Ever since the tragic death of her husband she has been unwilling to share her thoughts and feelings with anyone.
Dragon Name: Oya, meaning 'wind warrior' and is pronounced how it is spelled
Age: 8 months
Gender: Male
Color: Light grey, not silver at all
Description:
-looks- light grey metallic color, but nowhere near silver. He has dark grey, almost (but not quite), black eyes. He has a lovely array of pointy spikes all the way down his back to the very tip of his tail, save for his rider's seat, and many thin spikes on his face. The spikes on his face give him the appearance of what a man's would look like after three days of not shaving.
-personality- Oya was once a rather happy dragon, full of spirit and kind thoughts. When his rider died part of Oya died with him. Ever since then he has temper flare-ups and uncalled-for temper tantrums. It is not his fault, really. Sometimes he just reaches out with his mind for his rider but only finds a painful black hole. It is very frusterating for him. How very depressing.
HISTORY:
There was no reason for Lucien to ever be sad durig her childhood. She actually had a very happy life. Her family was rich, she had a great house with a great family, a great education and a great love.
Lucy was named after hr older brother who died from a fever, when he was only eight years old. When her pregnant mother heard the news she went into early labour and gave birth to Lucy. The memories in their home overtook the family so they moved to start a new life, in a new neighborhood and new friends. Above their fireplace mantle were wonderfully scented candles and drawing of her brother, a resting place of honour. Also there was his urn, where his ashes lay. Lucy grew up very much in awe of him. To hold someones name is one of the greatest honors ever to be given.
In their new neighborhood there were many other families, but in one family there was a boy named Saul. You can probably guess that they eventually fell in love and wanted to marry. There were problems, though. The main problem was that Lucy's family was deeply religious (worshipers of Helgrind) while Saul's family was not. Lucy secretly despised their religion, but told only Saul.
One night Saul climbed up the vine to her bedroom window and tapped on it quietly. Lucy, always afraid of burgalers, crept fearfully to the window to see who was there. She was 16 now, and had to be brave. She sighed in relief as she saw Saul's face and opened up the window for him. He let himself in quietly. He was strong, careful and sure footed for a 17 year old, unlike his rowdy brothers. He had a strong jaw and sandy blonde, curly hair that went down to just below his ears. His warm brown eyes were calm and caring.
He cupped Lucy's head in his hands and kissed her on the forehead. "Lucy," he whispered, "I want to marry you. Would you ever do such a thing?"
She gently put her hands on his and moved them to her heart. "Oh Saul, why do you joke so? Of corse I would marry you!"
He smiled slightly, "but your parents--"
"But my parents disagree? So what?" She looked into his deep brown eyes, she loved his eyes.
He stopped smiling momentarily, then broke out in a grin saying, "they can cut off your hands and feet in penance!"
"Oh they can't do that," she thought a moment, then said, "alright they could but that couldn't stop me! I have given you my heart. Please just don't worry about them." A tear rolled down Saul's face and he removed her hands from hers. "What is wrong, Saul?" she asked him, "tell me now. What's happened?" She grabbed him by the shoulders so he couldn't turn away.
He waited a moment, then whispered, "I'm running away Lucy. Sorry..."
He turned to leave but Lucy said, "so thats it, then? 16 years means nothing? If you are going to leave then you must take me with you."
Her devotion to him was overwhelming and Saul started to cry. The thought of leaving her had weighed him down so much, and now that it was gone he did not know what to do. Quickly Lucy wrote a note on a piece of paper for her family and started to pack her things. In their rush she accidentally broke a beautiful green mask she had had since Saul gave it to her on her 6th birthday. She was very upset, but they had to leave wuickly because the crash had probably woken her family.
Saul and Lucy stole quietly out the window, stole a large clidesdale horse, tack, food and coins from Saul's house and rode off to Aberon. They had heard of many job opportunities there.
ROLE PLAY SAMPLE:
Aberon was not at all what they expected. To be truthful, they didn't know what to expect, but certainly not this. There were drunks, beggars and wild children running around the place.
"We should go back," Saul said to Lucy but she shook her head. On they went. Near the center there were no more drunks, wild children or anything else. They rented out a room in a hotel and picketed their horse there. They walked over to the famed palace to see if there were job openings as guards.
Saul applied there and was told to return the next day, so they went back to the hotel. Lucy took a job as a maid in exchange for free board. The next day he went back to the palace as he was told to.
His mind was searched through thuroughly many, many, many times and was eventually let through to another room. There were many strong men and Saul seemed to be the weakest out of them all. He was tested many times in things like writing, math, logic, skills in various things and physical tests. he got the highest scored out of all the others in the mind parts but was very near the bottom in the physical part.
Amazingly, they told him he was just what they needed. His job was to guard one of the dragon eggs and carry it room-to-room. He got a dull grey one and was secretly jealous of all the others who got red, blue, and green eggs to carry. The job was very easy, though, and the pay was very high. In three months they had a lovely little home with comfortable furnature and plety of food on the table. lucy no longer worked, so Saul enrolled her in self-defence classes in the palace. They had planned to have their wedding eithin the month.
Something happened, though. One day he stumbled, carrying an egg from a room that a dragon had hatched in, to the guarding cell where it would be examined. He hastily picked it up and placed it back onto the pillow, hoping nobody saw. The egg had nothing wrong with it so he did not lose his job.
Exactly thirteen days later, when he was carrying the egg from a room with an un-successful rider-wanna-be to the holding cell, the egg cracked. Eveyone stopped and stared at him. Nasuada walked up, "you. Did you touch this dragon egg?"
He gulped, "yes your grace."
"When?"
He counted up the days, "about thirteen days ago, your grace."
"Well then, into the room with that man. Maybe the dragon is his, maybe it is yours. Who knows. The dragon will have to decide." So the egg was placed in the middle of the room with one man at one end and the Saul at the other. The dragon hatched, revealing a gangly looking dull grey dragon. The other man whistled to it and tried to make it come to him. Saul just stood there, not knowing that to do.
The dragon looked both ways, then walked over to Saul. Carefully he reached down with his left hand and placed it upon the little dragon's head and he became a rider. The grey dragon was male and Saul named him Oya from a story he had loved when he was a boy. Lucy could not believe it. They were moved into a room inside the palace for safety and training. Their wedding would just have to wait.
Saul was trained among the other riders while Lucy continued her self-defence courses. Eventually both Saul and Oya were ready for Ellesmera and prepared to leave. Saul was given a lovely elf-crafted silver sword, but Oya hated it. He was not silver at all. It was maily jealousy of the pretty-colored dragons that made him hate the color silver.
So together, Saul, Lucy and Oya started their journey to Ellesmera. With the first set of basic training done Lucy felt that it was time to marry. They eloped in Gil'ead and Oya dropped the newlyweds off in a secluded area near the edge of Ellesmera for their honeymoon. Oya left them alone for privacy and flew over to the Spine, seeking some sort of adventure.
During their honeymoon, on the second day, Saul tried to make a new mask like the one that broke when they were running away, out of sand and magic. Unfortunately he had used an absolute and the magic needed to make the mask was too much for him. He could not undo his words and he started to weaken as the mask took shape. Lucy watched in horror as he started to fade and the mask started to mold.
Oya, too far away to help, did not even know what was happening. He was just returning when he felt Saul's presence fade. He sped up and flew as fast as he could, only a blur in the sky. He got there, but was too late. Saul was laying on the ground, his skin was hanging loose on his bones and his eyes were sunken. He fought for air. Lucy was holding his hands and crying, not knowing what to do.
"Oya... please... Oya look after Lucy," Saul rasped, barely audible, "and never... leave her. You guard your mind before I die. Please... do what I ask... Lucy? Lucy... I love you... stay with Oya... I love ... you both... so much..." With that he took his last breath and died. The completed porcaline mask lay by his head. Oya went to crush it but Lucy stopped him.
"It is all that is left! Let me keep it," she sobbed. Then Oya flew back with Lucy and the dead body of Saul. He was buried in Aberon and Lucy was given his sword.
"I am deeply sorry and offer my condolences," Nasuada said to them, "it is such a sad thing for him to die. We need all the help we can get. Training in DuWeldenvarden is out of the question. You can stay together, although I wish you (to Oya) would choose a stronger, better man as your rider."
Oya shook his head, No. His last, dying words was for us to stick together no matter what. i intend to do as he commanded, your grace.
"Alright, alright. There is a group you two can join. They are a rather large group of riders heading to Vroengard to fight a wild dragon. You can probably catch them fairly soon, since I heard they have stopped often. Fly quickly and good luck," Nasuada said. It was no use arguing, as she had a busy schedule and had to meet with the council.
So, they left to find this strange group of travelling riders.
